While Thor might be mighty and Superman might be stronger than a locomotive and faster than a speeding bullet, I am pitting these two heroes against each other to try and figure out which one would actually defeat the other. With his Asgardian abilities and mystically-enchanted hammer Mjolnir, Thor is a god who fights and defeats adversaries far stronger than him on a regular basis. However, Thor, one of Marvel's strongest Avengers, might just be powerful enough to take on Superman.

With a seemingly endless arrays of abilities and bottomless power reserve, it's difficult to think of a character who could reasonably give the Man of Steel a serious challenge in a fair fight. Further more, just to make things just a slight bit fair, for both parties, we'll assume that Thor is aware of how Kryptonite affects Superman, and like the Avengers vs Justice League comic that Superman with his infinite strength is still incapable of lifting Mjolnir due to the magical properties of the hammer.Hello everyone while people have argued about which superheroes could defeat each other for generations, the gold standard of superhero strength in these friendly arguments is Superman. Leave your opinions below, and explain why you believe either Superman or Thor would win.ĮDIT: In my haste to post this proposal, I completely forgot to mention which version of each character would be specifically involved, so to make things clear we'll go with say how Thor was depicted in End Game armed with both Mjolnir and Stormbreaker, and Superman as depicted in the Justice League film. However after the threat was defeated, Superman tried to lift Mjolnir for Thor, only to find he was unable to do so anymore. That said, Superman also has another weakness other than kryptonite, that being anything magical/supernatural, best depicted in the animated film "Teen Titans vs The Justice League" when a demon of Trigon was able to possess Superman with relative ease.Īs an added bonus, during a Marvel/DC cross over, Superman was able to stop Mjolnir with his hands during a fight, and was later seen wielding the hammer in the final climatic battle of the combined efforts of both the Avengers and the Justice League. However, if we go with the Injustice version of Superman, we see that he was made a member of the Sinestro Corps and given a yellow ring to wield the power of fear itself to great extent, even going so far as to destroy the leader of the Green Lantern Corps, Mogo.

Except he isn't, see if you gather up some kryptonite and use that on the Man of Steel, he will be rendered powerless. Superman doesn't really use weapons as his entire body could be considered a weapon in and of itself, what with him being able to deflect bullets shot at him without effort, move fast enough to keep up with The Flash, strong enough to lift a mountain if he needed to, freeze enemies with his breath and shoot heat beams from his eyes, and of course his ever present ability to fly, one could argue that Superman is unstoppable. Superman: the Man of Steel and depending on which version you go with is either a protector of Earth, or a terrifying dictator with the world under his regime. Of course these weapons of Asgard are enchanted to only be used by those whom are worthy, though if we go with the MCU version only Mjolnir has that enchantment, while Stormbreaker is not and could theoretically be lifted by anybody strong enough.

Whichever version we go with, Thor has the power to control and channel lighting through his body, and at least for a time was able to fly by holding Mjolnir by the leather strap and throwing it, along with bringing both Mjolnir and Stormbreaker to him simply by holding his hands out and willing it. Thor: as he is depicted in both Marvel comics and in the MCU, Thor is the son of Odin and God of Thunder, often seen wielding either his hammer Mjolnir or if with his Infinity War/Endgame version, Stormbreaker. So with this title in place I'll lay out some specifics on each character and their powers/abilities to better allow understanding to the battle.
